TRON (TRX)

TRON uses a Delegated Proof of Stake model in which TRX holders vote for Super Representatives that produce blocks and maintain the ledger. This design prioritizes throughput and predictable transaction costs, rather than the more open validator structure used by some proof-of-work and proof-of-stake networks. Users can freeze or stake TRX to obtain voting power and network resources, including bandwidth and energy, which help reduce the need to pay direct transaction fees for certain activity.

The platform supports smart contracts and decentralized applications, and it is broadly compatible with Ethereum-style development tools. This allows developers to build or migrate applications in areas such as decentralized finance, gaming, payments, and digital content distribution. Ecosystem projects include lending and stablecoin services, while the wider TRON brand has also been associated with BitTorrent and decentralized storage initiatives.

Originally launched by the TRON Foundation under founder Justin Sun, TRON has shifted toward DAO-style governance, with community voting playing a central role in network operation. Its main distinction is its focus on scalable, everyday blockchain usage, especially stablecoin payments and settlement, where speed, liquidity, and transaction cost are central considerations.
