XRP (XRP)

The XRP Ledger uses a federated consensus design rather than proof-of-work mining or conventional staking. Validators compare proposed transaction sets and, once sufficient agreement is reached, transactions are finalized permanently. This approach is designed to deliver rapid settlement, modest fees, and lower energy use than mining-based networks. Ripple, the payments company associated with XRP, remains an important participant in the ecosystem and works on enterprise blockchain infrastructure for financial institutions. However, the ledger itself operates as a public network with independent validators, developers, wallet providers, exchanges, and businesses building around it. A small amount of XRP is destroyed with each transaction, which helps deter spam and makes network usage economically measurable.
