AES (AES)
NYSE Market Closed
The AES Corporation is a global power company that owns and operates electricity generation assets and utilities across multiple international markets. Its portfolio includes renewable energy, natural gas, coal and oil-fired generation, giving it a broad presence across both conventional and cleaner power sources. The company operates in 15 countries and manages a generation fleet of more than 32 gigawatts.
AES supplies electricity through a mix of contracted generation projects, merchant power assets and majority-owned utility businesses. Its utility operations serve end customers in selected markets, while its generation assets sell power to utilities, corporations and grid operators. This combination gives the company exposure to regulated electricity demand as well as long-term power purchase agreements and competitive energy markets.
A major focus for AES is the transition toward lower-carbon power. The company is active in renewable energy development, particularly solar, wind and energy storage, and works with large commercial and industrial customers seeking clean electricity supply. At the same time, its legacy thermal generation assets remain part of the portfolio, reflecting the varied pace of energy transition across the countries where it operates.
AES is distinctive for its international footprint and its role in both power generation and electricity distribution. Its performance is influenced by electricity demand, fuel costs, regulation, project development execution, financing conditions and currency movements. For investors, the company represents exposure to global power infrastructure, utility operations and the ongoing shift toward renewable energy and grid modernization.
