Astec Industries (ASTE)

Astec Industries is a manufacturer of equipment used in roadbuilding, aggregate processing, asphalt production, concrete production, and other infrastructure-related markets. The company supplies machinery and systems that support much of the construction materials chain, from extracting and crushing stone to producing asphalt mix and placing finished road surfaces.
Astec’s product portfolio includes asphalt plants, pavers, material transfer vehicles, milling equipment, crushing and screening systems, washing equipment, and material handling solutions. Its customers include highway contractors, asphalt producers, quarry operators, sand and gravel businesses, ready-mix concrete producers, mining operators, demolition and recycling firms, and public infrastructure contractors. This gives the company exposure to public road spending as well as private construction and industrial activity.
The business is organised around two main segments. Infrastructure Solutions includes equipment used in asphalt road construction and related applications, and it accounts for the larger share of revenue. Materials Solutions focuses on equipment that processes aggregates and other raw materials, including crushers, screens, and washing systems. Together, these segments place Astec across several stages of infrastructure development rather than in one narrow equipment category.
Astec generates most of its sales in the United States, but it also serves international markets through its brands, dealers, and direct customer relationships. Demand for its products is influenced by highway funding, construction cycles, commodity activity, fleet replacement needs, and contractor confidence. The company’s distinguishing strength is its broad range of specialised machinery for building and maintaining transport infrastructure, particularly roads and the materials used to construct them.
