Armstrong World Industries (AWI)
NYSE Market Closed
Armstrong World Industries, Inc. designs and manufactures ceiling, wall, and architectural systems used primarily in commercial buildings. Its products are found in offices, schools, hospitals, retail spaces, transportation facilities, and other environments where acoustics, aesthetics, fire performance, accessibility, and durability are important parts of building design.
The company’s largest business is Mineral Fiber, which produces suspended ceiling systems made from mineral fiber and fiberglass. These products are often used with grid systems to create accessible ceilings that conceal mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure while supporting sound control and lighting integration. Armstrong also reports results related to WAVE, its joint venture with Worthington, which manufactures suspension systems and grid products used with ceiling panels.
Armstrong’s Architectural Specialties segment provides more customized and design-oriented solutions, including specialty ceilings, walls, metal systems, wood products, felt, resin, glass, and glass-reinforced gypsum applications. This part of the business is more project driven, serving architects, designers, contractors, and building owners seeking distinctive finishes or performance characteristics beyond standard ceiling tiles.
The company’s portfolio spans both functional building products and architectural design elements. It competes by offering a wide range of materials, acoustic options, installation systems, and specification support for construction and renovation projects. Its products are often selected during the design phase and installed by commercial contractors through building materials distribution channels.
Armstrong World Industries operates mainly in the United States and Canada. Its demand is linked to commercial construction, remodeling activity, institutional spending, and the ongoing need to modernize interior spaces for comfort, flexibility, and building performance.
