Capricor Therapeutics (CAPR)

Capricor’s main drug candidate is deramiocel, also known as CAP-1002, an allogeneic cardiac-derived cell therapy. The product is being studied in late-stage clinical development for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, where the company is evaluating its potential to benefit skeletal and cardiac muscle. Because deramiocel is allogeneic, it is designed to be manufactured from donor-derived cells rather than produced individually for each patient, a feature that could support broader scalability if approved.

Beyond its cell therapy programme, Capricor is building a research platform around exosomes, the small extracellular vesicles that cells use to transfer biological signals. Its StealthX platform is intended to engineer exosomes as delivery vehicles for therapeutic payloads such as nucleic acids, proteins, and small molecules. The company has explored applications that include vaccinology and targeted drug delivery, although these programmes remain earlier-stage than deramiocel.
