Comcast Corp is a diversified media, connectivity and entertainment company with major operations in broadband, cable television, film, television production, streaming, theme parks and international pay TV. Its largest business is its US cable and connectivity operation, which serves residential and business customers with internet access, video, voice and related services across a large portion of the country.
The company’s cable network passes tens of millions of homes and businesses, giving Comcast one of the most extensive fixed-line broadband footprints in the United States. Broadband is a central part of the company’s strategy, as high-speed internet has become the core utility underpinning streaming, remote work, digital services and connected devices. Comcast also sells wireless service through its mobile offering, using a combination of Wi-Fi infrastructure and wholesale network access.
Comcast’s media and entertainment assets are held through NBCUniversal. This business includes the NBC broadcast network, owned local television stations, Bravo, the Peacock streaming service, Universal Pictures and other studio operations, as well as Universal theme parks. NBCUniversal gives Comcast exposure to advertising, content licensing, theatrical releases, direct-to-consumer streaming and experiential entertainment. The portfolio has changed over time as Comcast has separated certain cable network assets, sharpening NBCUniversal around broadcast, streaming, studios and parks.
Comcast also owns Sky, a major European media and telecommunications business with significant operations in the United Kingdom and Italy. Sky provides television, broadband and related services, and adds an international dimension to Comcast’s revenue base. Together, these businesses make Comcast a major player at the intersection of communications infrastructure, premium content and consumer entertainment.
