Rocket Lab Corporation is a space technology company that provides launch services, spacecraft, and mission systems for government and commercial customers. The company is best known for Electron, a small orbital launch vehicle designed to place satellites into low Earth orbit on dedicated or rideshare missions. Electron has supported applications such as Earth observation, communications, climate monitoring, national security, scientific research, and space debris-related missions.
Rocket Lab operates across two main areas: Launch Services and Space Systems. Its launch business covers mission design, integration, range operations, and orbital deployment, giving customers a way to access space without relying solely on large launch vehicles. The company operates launch infrastructure in New Zealand and the United States, positioning itself to serve civil, defense, and private-sector demand.
The Space Systems segment broadens Rocket Lab beyond rockets. It includes satellite components, spacecraft manufacturing, mission software, and the Photon satellite platform, which can support missions in Earth orbit and beyond. This vertical integration is central to Rocket Lab’s strategy, as it allows the company to capture more value from each mission and support customers from spacecraft design through launch and on-orbit operations.
Rocket Lab is also developing Neutron, a larger reusable launch vehicle intended to address medium-lift launch demand and support constellation deployment. The company primarily generates revenue from the United States, while also serving international markets including Japan and other regions where demand for space-based infrastructure is growing.
