Somnia (SOMI)

The chain is built to be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, allowing developers to deploy Solidity contracts and use familiar tooling such as Ethers.js, viem, wallets, and existing development frameworks. This compatibility is important because it lowers the cost of moving applications from Ethereum or other EVM networks while giving teams access to Somnia’s own execution architecture.

Somnia’s technical stack is designed around a custom consensus mechanism, a compiled EVM execution environment, and a database layer built for heavy transaction loads. The project targets very high throughput, sub-second finality, and minimal transaction costs, which would make it suitable for real-time games, social applications, metaverse-style environments, on-chain AI agents, and consumer products that cannot tolerate slow or expensive settlement.

A distinctive feature is Somnia Agents, which are intended to let smart contracts query external APIs and run deterministic AI models on-chain. Another is Native Reactivity, where contracts can respond automatically to events without requiring off-chain bots or keepers to trigger execution. Together, these features position Somnia as infrastructure for more autonomous decentralised applications rather than a general-purpose chain focused only on standard token transfers and DeFi.
