CNX operates through two main reporting segments: Shale and Coalbed Methane. The Shale segment accounts for most of the company’s revenue and reflects CNX’s emphasis on horizontal drilling, hydraulic fracturing and long-lived natural gas reserves. Its coalbed methane business provides additional production from legacy Appalachian resource areas and supports the company’s broader position as a regional natural gas producer.

The company is also active in midstream and technology-related activities that support its upstream operations.
