The Pennant Group, Inc. is a US healthcare services company that operates home health, hospice, home care and senior living businesses. Its services are aimed at patients across different age groups, with a significant focus on older adults and people managing chronic illness, recovery after hospitalisation or end-of-life care. The company’s footprint spans a broad set of western and central US states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Pennant reports through two main business areas: home health and hospice services, and senior living services. The home health and hospice segment is the larger revenue contributor and includes skilled nursing, therapy, medical social work, hospice support and non-medical home care services delivered in patients’ homes. This part of the business benefits from the long-term shift toward lower-cost care settings outside hospitals and nursing facilities, as well as demographic growth in the senior population.
The senior living segment includes assisted living, independent living and memory care communities. These facilities serve residents who need varying levels of help with daily activities, social support or specialised care for cognitive impairment. The combination of home-based services and residential communities gives Pennant multiple points of contact with the ageing-care market.
Pennant’s operating model is built around local leadership, community-level brands and decentralised management, an approach commonly used in healthcare services to tailor operations to regional referral networks and labour markets. For investors, the company is tied to demand for post-acute care, reimbursement trends, staffing availability, acquisitions and the ongoing expansion of services for seniors in the United States.
