Olympus (OHM)

At the centre of Olympus is its treasury, which holds assets that support the protocol’s financial operations. OHM is not presented as a simple stablecoin. Instead, Olympus uses mechanisms intended to manage supply, liquidity, and market conditions through programmable policy. This gives the protocol a monetary-design focus that differs from lending markets, decentralised exchanges, or yield aggregators.

A defining feature of Olympus is Protocol Owned Liquidity, often shortened to POL. Rather than depending entirely on third-party liquidity providers, the protocol seeks to own and manage liquidity itself, improving resilience and reducing reliance on short-term incentives. Olympus also incorporates tools such as Cooler Loans, Convertible Deposits, the Yield Repurchase Facility, and Range Bound Stability, each designed to help manage credit, deposits, yield flows, or price behaviour within defined parameters.

The broader aim is to create self-sustaining financial infrastructure that can operate transparently through smart contracts. Supporters view Olympus as an attempt to build a decentralised, rules-based monetary system for DeFi, while critics often focus on the complexity and risks of experimental token economics. For investors, OHM is best understood as exposure to an on-chain monetary protocol whose performance depends on treasury management, policy design, liquidity depth, and confidence in the Olympus ecosystem.
