Main Street USD (MSUSD)

Main Street USD, commonly referred to as msUSD, is the yield-generating token in Main St’s dual-token system on Sonic. The project is built for users seeking crypto-native exposure to institutional-style, delta-neutral strategies rather than simple spot-market speculation. Its second token, smsUSD, is used for staking, creating a structure that separates the liquid yield-bearing asset from the mechanism through which users participate more directly in strategy returns.

Main St focuses on options-based yield generation. Instead of relying primarily on a cash-and-carry or perpetual futures basis trade, the protocol targets opportunities that arise when options markets price future volatility differently from the volatility that is ultimately realised. This form of options arbitrage is intended to capture market inefficiencies while keeping directional exposure to the underlying asset limited. In practice, the appeal of msUSD is that returns are meant to come from volatility and options-market structure, not from making a simple bullish or bearish bet.

The project operates within the Sonic ecosystem, an EVM-compatible blockchain environment designed for high-throughput decentralized finance applications. By deploying on Sonic, Main St positions msUSD as a composable asset that can potentially be used across DeFi venues while retaining a strategy framework managed around risk controls, collateral, and hedging.

msUSD should be understood as a structured crypto yield product, not as a conventional bank deposit or risk-free stablecoin.
