Subsquid’s core proposition is a modular data lake and query engine for Web3 applications. Developers use its tooling to build indexers, analytics pipelines, dashboards, wallets, games, and decentralised applications that require fast access to historical and real-time blockchain data. Instead of forcing all workloads through a single monolithic service, Subsquid separates data ingestion, storage, processing, and querying so that infrastructure can scale more flexibly.

The project also emphasises permissionless access and verifiability. Its architecture is designed to use cryptographic assurances, including zero-knowledge proof technology, to support trust-minimised data delivery and computation across the network. This is intended to make Subsquid a neutral data layer for multiple chains rather than a closed service controlled by one infrastructure provider.

SQD supports the economic coordination of that network. It is used within the ecosystem to align participants such as node operators, data providers, developers, and users of query capacity, depending on the network’s current implementation and governance rules.

Subsquid is distinctive because it targets one of Web3’s less visible but essential markets: reliable data access. As decentralised applications become more complex, indexing infrastructure such as Subsquid can be as important as wallets, smart contracts, or block space itself.
