Celestia (TIA)

This architecture is designed for developers who want to launch their own blockchain or rollup without building every layer from scratch. A project can use Celestia for data availability while choosing a separate execution environment and settlement layer. That flexibility makes Celestia part of the broader modular blockchain movement, where specialized networks handle distinct tasks and can be combined depending on an application’s needs.

The network uses data availability sampling, a technique that allows nodes to verify that block data is available without downloading all of it. This is intended to make participation lighter and to help the system scale as more rollups and applications post data to the network. Celestia’s approach is particularly relevant to ecosystems built around app-specific chains, Layer 2 networks, and high-throughput decentralized applications.

TIA is the native asset of Celestia. It is used within the network’s proof-of-stake design, including staking and validator incentives, and may also be used by rollups that rely on Celestia for publishing data. The project stands out because it does not aim to be a general-purpose smart contract chain. Instead, it provides a foundational service for other blockchains, positioning itself as infrastructure for a more modular crypto economy.
