Carter's (CRI)
NYSE Market Closed
Carter’s Inc. is a branded children’s apparel company best known for clothing, accessories, and related products for babies and young children. Its core brands include Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh, two long-established names in the U.S. childrenswear market, and the company also offers products through additional labels and licensed or partner channels.
Carter’s sells through a multi-channel model that includes its own retail stores, eCommerce sites, wholesale relationships, and international distribution. In the United States and Canada, its omnichannel platform allows customers to shop across stores and digital channels, while wholesale partnerships place its products in department stores, mass merchants, and other retailers. The U.S. Wholesale segment is a major contributor to revenue, reflecting the company’s extensive relationships with large retail partners.
The company’s product range covers everyday essentials such as bodysuits, sleepwear, playwear, outerwear, shoes, and accessories, with a focus on value, durability, and age-appropriate design. Because children quickly outgrow clothing, Carter’s serves a category with recurring purchase needs, though demand is still affected by consumer spending, birth trends, inventory levels, and retail competition.
Carter’s relies heavily on third-party manufacturers, with much of its sourcing tied to Asia, and it supports its distribution network through facilities in the United States, Canada, and Asia. Its competitive position rests on brand recognition, scale in young children’s apparel, retailer relationships, and the ability to manage product design, sourcing, logistics, and channel mix in a cost-sensitive consumer market.
