Ribbon’s business is organized around two main segments. The Cloud and Edge segment provides software-centric and cloud-native products for voice over IP, voice over LTE, voice over 5G New Radio, unified communications and network interconnection. This portfolio includes technologies such as session border controllers and signaling solutions that help carriers and enterprises secure, route and manage real-time communications across different networks and platforms.

The IP Optical Networks segment focuses on high-performance networking equipment that supports rising bandwidth demand. Its products are used to move traffic across metro, regional and long-haul networks, serving needs created by 5G deployments, distributed cloud computing, enterprise connectivity, video traffic and the continued growth of data-intensive applications.

Ribbon sells to a wide range of customers, including communications service providers, government agencies, utilities, financial institutions, transportation networks and large enterprises. These customers often require highly reliable systems because their communications infrastructure supports critical operations.

The United States is the company’s largest revenue market, although its products are used internationally. Ribbon’s competitive position depends on carrier capital spending, enterprise modernization projects, cloud communications adoption and demand for secure, scalable network infrastructure. Its appeal lies in offering both real-time communications software and optical networking technology within one portfolio.
