Southern Copper (SCCO)

The company reports its business through Peruvian operations, Mexican open-pit operations, and Mexican underground mining operations. Its open-pit mines, concentrators, smelters, and refineries allow it to participate across a large portion of the copper value chain, rather than acting only as an ore producer. Copper sales account for the majority of revenue, making the company closely tied to copper prices, industrial activity, infrastructure spending, electrification, and long-term demand from power networks, construction, transportation, and renewable energy systems.

Southern Copper is widely regarded as one of the larger publicly traded copper producers, and it is majority controlled by Grupo México. Its scale, long-life mineral resources, and integrated production model distinguish it from smaller mining peers. At the same time, its earnings are exposed to commodity cycles, energy and labor costs, permitting, environmental obligations, and political conditions in its operating countries. For investors, Southern Copper offers direct exposure to copper fundamentals with additional contribution from molybdenum and precious-metal by-products.
