ZEC spot buy

Buy ZEC for a continuation move while it holds above the 50-day EMA (~$490). The Orchard→Ironwood migration is a “plumbing fix” that stabilizes confidence in shielded supply, and shielded supply is roughly flat—so this looks like internal reallocation, not a supply shock. Technicals are constructive (above 50/100/200-day EMAs) with RSI ~55, suggesting room to push through resistance.

Key Risk: A real loss of confidence—another security issue or evidence of counterfeit/supply inflation that breaks the “stable shielded supply” narrative and triggers a sharp selloff below ~$490.

ZEC resistance breakout long

Go long ZEC specifically on a daily close above $548 (descending trendline cluster). The article flags $532–$548 as the key ceiling; clearing it should shift momentum from consolidation to trend resumption, targeting a retest of $589. The derivatives backdrop is still mildly bullish (positive funding), but weakening—so the trade is about forcing a breakout when spot demand finally returns.

Key Risk: Breakout failure—price closes above $548 but Open Interest keeps falling and ZEC quickly reverts back under $532, trapping longs.

  • Zcash trades above $500 while holding over its major moving averages.
  • Shielded ZEC is moving from older Orchard pool to new Ironwood pool.
  • A break above $532–$548 resistance area could open path toward $589.

Zcash ZEC is trading above $500 on Monday, extending its sideways movement while remaining above the 50-day Exponential Moving Average at $490.

The privacy coin maintains a constructive underlying trend above its major moving averages.

However, declining derivatives activity and subdued momentum indicators suggest that buyers are struggling to drive another decisive rally.

Meanwhile, Zcash users continue migrating shielded coins from the older Orchard pool to the Ironwood pool following network upgrades designed to resolve a critical security vulnerability.

Why is Zcash shielded supply moving to Ironwood?

Zcash developers discovered a four-year-old vulnerability in late May that could potentially have allowed attackers to create counterfeit coins.

The issue presented a serious threat to Zcash’s value proposition.

ZEC is primarily designed for users seeking financial privacy, with shielded transactions concealing sensitive information such as wallet addresses and transaction amounts.

However, an undetected increase in token supply could have undermined confidence in ZEC as a scarce digital asset and store of value.

Developers responded by deploying an emergency hard fork on June 3.

The network later completed the major Ironwood upgrade in late July 2026, introducing a more secure environment for shielded transactions.

Data from Zkp.baby shows that the migration from Orchard to Ironwood is progressing.

The amount of ZEC held in the Orchard pool dropped almost 17% over the previous 24 hours to 1.49 million ZEC. During the same period, Ironwood’s shielded balance increased 14.5% to 2.30 million ZEC.

The contrasting movements suggest that users are transferring funds between privacy pools rather than withdrawing them from shielded circulation entirely.

Total shielded supply remained stable at approximately 4.36 million ZEC after recovering sharply from an August 1 low of 3.65 million ZEC.

The rebound indicates a modest recovery in the use of Zcash’s privacy features following the recent security concerns.

Speculative demand for Zcash is easing as risk appetite across the broader cryptocurrency market remains subdued.

CoinGlass data shows that ZEC futures Open Interest declined 1.3% over the past 24 hours to $884.94 million.

Falling Open Interest indicates that traders are closing positions or reducing their exposure instead of committing additional capital.

Zcash’s funding rate also fell to 0.0075% from 0.0098% the previous day. The positive rate shows that long-position holders are still paying short traders, maintaining a broadly bullish derivatives bias.

However, its decline suggests that demand for leveraged bullish exposure is weakening.

Zcash holds above its major moving averages

Zcash’s technical structure remains constructive despite the slowdown in momentum. ZEC currently trades above the 50-day EMA at $490, the 100-day EMA at $469, and the 200-day EMA at $414.

Holding above all three indicators reinforces the privacy coin’s broader upward trend. The 50-day and 100-day EMAs also provide important support if ZEC experiences another pullback.

However, the price must overcome nearby resistance before the next stage of the recovery can begin.

The Relative Strength Index stands near 55, slightly above its neutral midpoint of 50.

This reading indicates mild bullish momentum but remains far from overbought territory. It also suggests that neither buyers nor sellers currently have decisive control.

Meanwhile, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence line is moving sideways above its signal line.

Although the positioning retains a mild bullish bias, the flattening momentum shows that buying pressure has weakened.

Together, the indicators support continued consolidation unless trading activity increases.

Zcash faces its first significant resistance at $532. This level corresponds with the 78.6% Fibonacci retracement of the advance from the $368 swing low to the $589 high.

An overhead descending trendline near $548 strengthens the resistance cluster between $532 and $548.

A sustained daily close above this area could confirm renewed bullish momentum and clear the way for a retest of the $589 swing high.

If ZEC breaks through $589, buyers could target higher levels.

However, declining Open Interest and relatively neutral momentum indicators suggest that a breakout may require renewed spot and derivatives demand.

However, if Zcash falls below $500, the 50-day EMA at $490 would provide the first important support.

ZEC/USD 4H Chart

The next defensive zone sits between the 100-day EMA at $469 and the 50% Fibonacci retracement level at $478.

Buyers will need to defend this area to preserve the constructive medium-term structure.

A decisive break below $465 could weaken the outlook and expose lower support levels, with the 200-day EMA at $414 serving as a longer-term technical floor.

For now, Zcash remains bullish on its broader moving-average structure but neutral in the near term as it consolidates beneath the $532–$548 resistance area.
