Core (CORE)
Core is an EVM-compatible blockchain designed to bring Bitcoin-aligned security into a programmable smart contract environment. Its central idea is Satoshi Plus, a consensus model that combines delegated Bitcoin proof-of-work participation with delegated proof-of-stake-style validator selection. By linking validator elections to Bitcoin mining hash power as well as staked CORE, the network aims to balance security, decentralisation, and throughput without requiring developers to leave the familiar Ethereum tooling stack.
Because Core supports the Ethereum Virtual Machine, applications written for Ethereum can be adapted for use on the network, including decentralised exchanges, lending protocols, wallets, NFT platforms, and other smart contract services. This makes Core part of the broader multichain DeFi landscape while giving it a distinct identity around Bitcoin’s mining ecosystem and the idea of “BTCfi,” or financial applications built around Bitcoin-related assets and infrastructure.
The CORE token is used within the network for transaction fees, staking, validator incentives, and governance-related activity. Users and developers interact with Core much like they would with other EVM chains, but the project’s positioning is different from a standard Ethereum alternative: it seeks to extend Bitcoin’s economic and security footprint into a Turing-complete environment. For investors and market observers, Core is therefore best understood as a blockchain project attempting to bridge two major crypto design philosophies: Bitcoin’s proof-of-work foundation and Ethereum’s flexible smart contract architecture.
