EigenCloud (prev. EigenLayer) (EIGEN)

The project builds on the EigenLayer restaking concept, which allows Ethereum-staked capital and validator infrastructure to be reused to secure additional networks and services. In this model, actively validated services can draw on shared security instead of bootstrapping their own validator sets from scratch. That approach is designed to support middleware such as data availability layers, oracles, bridges, automation systems, and other services that need credible verification.

EIGEN is the native token tied to this ecosystem. It is intended to support coordination, incentives, and security for services that require more flexible validation than standard Ethereum consensus can provide. The token’s role is closely linked to the network’s ability to make subjective or off-chain work accountable through staking, slashing, and dispute mechanisms.

For developers, EigenCloud positions itself as a platform for verifiable applications spanning on-chain and off-chain environments. Its relevance comes from a broader market trend: blockchains are increasingly used not only for transactions, but also as trust layers for computation, data, and AI outputs. EigenCloud aims to provide the infrastructure that lets those systems prove what happened, who performed the work, and whether results can be relied upon.
