Aspen Aerogels (ASPN)
NYSE Market Closed
Aspen Aerogels, Inc. develops and manufactures advanced insulation materials based on aerogel technology, a class of highly porous materials known for strong thermal performance at low weight and thickness. The company serves industrial energy markets as well as newer applications tied to electrification and energy efficiency.
Its product portfolio includes insulation used in refineries, petrochemical facilities, LNG infrastructure, subsea systems, power generation and other demanding environments where heat, cold, corrosion under insulation and space constraints matter. Brands such as Pyrogel, Cryogel and Spaceloft are designed to help customers manage thermal performance in high-temperature, cryogenic and space-limited settings.
A major growth area for Aspen Aerogels is thermal barriers for electric vehicles and battery systems. These materials are intended to help manage heat propagation risks in lithium-ion battery packs, making the company a supplier to markets shaped by electric mobility and energy storage. This Thermal Barrier business accounts for a large share of revenue, alongside the company’s established Energy Industrial operations.
Aspen Aerogels also invests in research and development to extend the use of aerogels across sustainable insulation and advanced materials applications. Some of this work is supported by contracts or funding from US government agencies and other institutions. The company is based in the United States and sells into both domestic and international markets, with the US representing its largest geographic revenue base.
