Deere (DE)

Deere & Company is a global leader in agricultural machinery and one of the best-known industrial brands in the world through its John Deere name. The company designs and sells equipment used across the farming cycle, including tractors, combines, planters, sprayers, hay and forage machines, and increasingly software-enabled precision agriculture tools. Its largest business is production and precision agriculture, where Deere serves large-scale crop producers seeking higher yields, lower input waste, and more automated field operations.
Beyond large agriculture, Deere has meaningful exposure to smaller farms, landscaping, and turf through compact tractors, utility equipment, mowers, and related products. It also operates a construction and forestry division that supplies loaders, excavators, graders, dozers, backhoes, and timber-harvesting machinery. This mix gives the company a role in both food production and infrastructure activity, while still leaving its earnings closely tied to farm income, commodity cycles, equipment replacement demand, and interest rates.
Deere sells primarily through an extensive independent dealer network, with a particularly strong presence in the United States and Canada and distribution across more than 100 countries. Its dealers provide sales, parts, maintenance, and customer support, creating an important channel advantage for high-value machinery that must remain productive in demanding conditions. John Deere Financial supports equipment purchases and dealer inventories through retail and wholesale financing. The company’s strategic focus is on advanced manufacturing, connected machines, automation, and data-driven farm management, which position Deere as both a heavy-equipment manufacturer and a technology provider for modern agriculture.
