Johnson & Johnson (JNJ)
NYSE Market Closed
Johnson & Johnson is one of the world’s largest healthcare companies, with operations centred on innovative medicines and medical technology. Following the separation of its consumer health business, Kenvue, in 2023, the company is focused on prescription drugs and medtech products rather than consumer brands. This makes Johnson & Johnson more directly tied to clinical innovation, hospital demand, regulatory approvals, and healthcare spending trends.
The innovative medicine division develops and markets prescription therapies across major disease areas. After restructuring activity in 2023 and 2024, the drug business is concentrated mainly on immunology, oncology, and neuroscience. These categories include treatments for complex, chronic, and often high-value conditions where research capability, intellectual property, clinical trial execution, and physician adoption are central to long-term growth. Like other large pharmaceutical companies, Johnson & Johnson must continually manage patent expirations, competition from generics or biosimilars, and the need to replenish its pipeline through internal research, partnerships, and acquisitions.
The medtech division supplies products used by surgeons, hospitals, and healthcare providers. Its activities span areas such as surgical technology, orthopaedics, cardiovascular care, and other procedure-based markets. This segment gives the company exposure to global procedure volumes, hospital capital spending, and demand for devices that improve patient outcomes or operating efficiency.
Johnson & Johnson generates slightly more than half of its revenue in the United States, with the rest coming from international markets. Its scale, diversified healthcare portfolio, and long operating history make it a core name in global healthcare equities. The stock is commonly viewed as exposure to large-cap pharmaceutical and medical device innovation, supported by broad commercial reach and deep regulatory experience.
