Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings Inc. is one of the largest trucking and freight transportation companies in the United States. The company operates a broad platform built around asset-based truckload services, supported by less-than-truckload, logistics, brokerage, intermodal and ancillary transportation offerings. Its scale gives shippers access to a large fleet, a wide terminal network and multiple ways to move freight across North America.
The company’s truckload operations include dry van, refrigerated and dedicated contract services. Dry van freight covers general merchandise and packaged goods, refrigerated equipment is used for temperature-sensitive shipments, and dedicated contracts provide customers with committed capacity tailored to recurring freight needs. Knight-Swift also has a meaningful less-than-truckload business, which moves smaller shipments through a terminal-based network and serves customers that do not require a full trailer.
Beyond its owned tractors and trailers, Knight-Swift participates in more asset-light areas of freight. Its brokerage and logistics operations match customer loads with third-party carriers, while its intermodal business uses railroads for the long-haul portion of container movements and trucks for local pickup and delivery around rail terminals. The company also provides services such as equipment leasing, maintenance and support for third-party carriers.
Knight-Swift is closely tied to US freight demand, retail activity, manufacturing output and capacity conditions in the trucking market. Its diversified service mix helps it serve large shippers across different freight cycles while maintaining a strong presence in the full-truckload market.
