Mirion Technologies (MIR)
NYSE Market Closed
Mirion Technologies, Inc. supplies radiation detection, measurement, imaging and safety technologies for customers that work with ionizing radiation. Its products and software help organisations monitor exposure, protect personnel, verify compliance and improve the performance of critical operations in sectors where radiation must be measured accurately and managed carefully. The company serves markets tied to nuclear energy, healthcare, defence, research laboratories and industrial applications.
Mirion operates through two main segments: Nuclear & Safety and Medical. The Nuclear & Safety business provides instruments, dosimetry, monitoring systems and analytical tools used by nuclear power plants, national laboratories, defence customers and industrial operators. These solutions support radiation surveillance, contamination detection, environmental monitoring and facility safety. As interest in nuclear power, reactor life extensions and advanced nuclear technologies grows, reliable radiation measurement remains an essential part of plant operations, decommissioning work and regulatory oversight.
The Medical segment focuses on technologies that support cancer care, diagnostic imaging and practitioner safety. Mirion’s medical products are used in areas such as radiation therapy quality assurance, nuclear medicine, imaging calibration and occupational dose monitoring for healthcare professionals. This positions the company at the intersection of medical technology and radiation safety, where accuracy can directly affect patient treatment and clinical workflow.
Mirion’s distinguishing role is that it enables beneficial uses of radiation while helping reduce the risks associated with exposure. Rather than being tied to a single end market, the company applies specialised expertise across energy, healthcare, defence and research, making it a niche technology provider within safety-critical industries.
