NetApp, Inc. is an enterprise technology company focused on data storage, data management, and cloud infrastructure software. The company is best known for helping large organisations store, protect, move, and analyse data across on-premises data centres and public cloud environments. Its customers include enterprises, public sector agencies, and service providers that need reliable access to critical information while managing rising data volumes and increasingly distributed IT systems.
NetApp reports its operations mainly through Hybrid Cloud and Public Cloud activities. The Hybrid Cloud business is the largest contributor and includes storage systems, software, support, and professional services. These products are designed to modernise traditional data centres while allowing customers to connect them with major public clouds. NetApp’s portfolio includes all-flash and hybrid-flash storage arrays, data protection tools, and management software built around its long-standing ONTAP operating environment.
The Public Cloud business extends NetApp’s capabilities into cloud-native services, including storage and data management offerings used with hyperscale platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. This reflects the company’s strategy of supporting hybrid and multi-cloud IT architectures rather than focusing only on hardware sales.
NetApp generates a large share of revenue in the Americas, with the United States a key market. Its competitive position depends on enterprise technology spending, cloud adoption, cybersecurity and data resilience priorities, and competition from other storage and infrastructure vendors.
