Nuvalent (NUVL)

Nuvalent’s pipeline focuses primarily on oncogenic drivers in non-small cell lung cancer and other solid tumours. Its lead programmes include zidesamtinib, also known as NVL-520, for ROS1-positive cancers, and NVL-655 for ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer. Both programmes are designed to be highly selective and brain-penetrant, which is important because ROS1- and ALK-driven lung cancers can spread to the central nervous system and may become resistant to earlier generations of kinase inhibitors.

The company is also developing NVL-330, a HER2-selective inhibitor intended for tumours driven by HER2 exon 20 alterations. This programme targets an area of oncology where selectivity and tolerability are important, as HER2 biology is clinically relevant but can be difficult to treat effectively with small molecules without unwanted activity against related targets.

Nuvalent operates in the United States and does not yet have a broad commercial product portfolio, so its value is closely tied to clinical trial results, regulatory progress, safety data and the competitive landscape in precision oncology. As a biotechnology stock, it represents exposure to the high-risk, high-potential process of developing next-generation targeted therapies for patients whose cancers are defined by specific molecular alterations.
