Pulmatrix (PULM)

Pulmatrix applies this technology to both respiratory and non-respiratory diseases. Its lead programmes include PUR3100, an inhaled formulation being developed for the acute treatment of migraine. By using pulmonary delivery, Pulmatrix aims to provide fast systemic absorption without the need for injection, which could be useful in a condition where speed of onset is important.

The company’s respiratory pipeline includes PUR1800 for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a major cause of hospitalisation and disease progression in COPD patients. Pulmatrix is also developing PUR1900 for allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis, or ABPA, in people with asthma and cystic fibrosis. ABPA is a serious inflammatory reaction to Aspergillus fungi and remains an area with limited treatment options.

As a small biotechnology company, Pulmatrix’s value is closely tied to clinical progress, regulatory outcomes, financing capacity and potential partnerships. Its strategy centres on using iSPERSE to improve the performance of known therapeutic agents and address diseases with unmet medical needs, particularly where local lung delivery or rapid absorption may create a differentiated product profile.
