Fox Corporation Class B Common Stock represents ownership in Fox Corporation, a US media company built around live news, sports and broadcast television. The Class B shares carry voting rights, and voting control is concentrated with the Murdoch family, making governance and strategic direction important considerations for shareholders.
Fox operates mainly through two business groups: cable network programming and television. Its cable networks include Fox News, Fox Business and national sports channels, businesses that rely on affiliate fees from pay-TV distributors as well as advertising revenue. Fox News is one of the company’s most distinctive assets, giving Fox a strong position in US cable news and a large audience for political and current-affairs programming.
The television segment includes the Fox broadcast network, owned local television stations and Tubi, the company’s free, ad-supported streaming platform. The broadcast network is closely tied to live sports, unscripted entertainment and event programming, while the local stations provide exposure to regional advertising markets and retransmission fees. Tubi gives Fox a foothold in streaming without a subscription model, instead monetising viewers through advertising.
After selling most of its film and television entertainment assets to Disney in 2019, Fox is more focused than many large media peers. Its business depends heavily on live programming that remains valuable to advertisers and pay-TV distributors, even as traditional cable subscriptions decline.
