Its products are used across energy, chemicals, healthcare, food and beverage, metals, water treatment, and other industrial end markets. Chart is particularly exposed to applications where gases such as oxygen, nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, helium, and natural gas must be cooled, separated, compressed, stored, or moved safely and efficiently. This gives the business a role in both established industrial gas infrastructure and emerging areas such as hydrogen, carbon capture, biofuels, and clean water technologies.

The acquisition of Howden in 2023 materially expanded Chart’s scale and broadened its offering into compressors, fans, blowers, and air and gas handling technologies. That deal shifted the company further toward integrated process solutions, allowing it to serve customers across a wider part of the gas value chain, from generation and liquefaction to distribution and end use.

Chart’s strategy centers on energy transition infrastructure, LNG supply chains, specialty industrial applications, and aftermarket service opportunities. The company has also announced plans to combine with Flowserve by the end of 2025, a transaction that would further reshape its position in industrial flow control and process equipment markets.
