The group’s store network includes roughly 430 Macy’s locations, around 60 Bloomingdale’s, Bloomingdale’s Outlet, and Bloomie’s stores, and more than 170 freestanding Bluemercury stores focused on prestige beauty and spa services. Macy’s also runs digital commerce platforms for its banners, making e-commerce and omnichannel fulfilment an important part of its strategy as department store shopping continues to shift online.

Women’s apparel, accessories, shoes, cosmetics, and fragrances represent the largest portion of the company’s retail sales, accounting for nearly two-thirds of net retail sales in 2025. This gives Macy’s meaningful exposure to discretionary consumer spending, fashion trends, and the competitive US beauty and apparel markets.

The company licenses Bloomingdale’s stores in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, extending the brand beyond the US without operating a large international store base directly. Macy’s remains a prominent name in American retail, but its performance depends on traffic to malls and urban stores, private-label and national-brand merchandising, inventory discipline, and its ability to modernise the customer experience across physical and digital channels.
