Constellation Brands (STZ)

The beer division is the company’s core growth engine and accounts for the vast majority of revenue. Constellation’s model combines brand ownership and distribution rights with large-scale brewing and packaging capacity in Mexico, supported by a joint venture with glass manufacturer Owens-Illinois. Its franchise is heavily tied to US consumer demand, as the company’s rights to key Mexican beer brands apply only in the United States.

Constellation has reshaped its wine and spirits operations in recent years, selling or discontinuing lower-growth assets and concentrating on a smaller group of higher-end labels. This has made the business less diversified by category but more focused on premium segments where pricing power and brand identity are important.

The company has also maintained exposure to the cannabis industry through a minority stake in Canopy Growth, a Canadian producer serving medical and adult-use markets. For investors, Constellation is primarily viewed as a branded consumer staples company with a leading imported beer platform, a narrower wine and spirits portfolio, and limited direct international revenue exposure despite the global recognition of its flagship brands.
