Bancor Network (BNT)

Bancor’s current ecosystem centers on protocols such as Carbon and Fast Lane. Carbon is a decentralized trading protocol that gives users more precise control over liquidity than traditional AMMs. It allows traders to create on-chain strategies using custom limit orders and range orders, including strategies that buy within one price range and sell within another. This asymmetric liquidity model separates buying and selling curves, enabling more tailored execution than a standard pooled liquidity position.

A notable feature of Carbon is that executed orders are designed to be irreversible, meaning trades do not automatically reverse when market prices move back through the same range. Strategies can also be adjusted on-chain without fully removing and redeploying liquidity, which can improve flexibility and reduce operational complexity. The design is intended to bring some of the order-management functionality of centralized exchanges into a transparent, non-custodial environment.

Fast Lane complements Carbon by enabling arbitrage between Bancor ecosystem protocols and other on-chain exchanges, with profits redirected back into the ecosystem. Governance is handled by BancorDAO, where BNT holders influence protocol parameters, upgrades, and future development. Bancor remains distinctive for its role in DeFi’s early AMM history and its continued experimentation with more advanced forms of decentralized liquidity.
