Huobi (HT)
Huobi Token (HT) is the exchange-linked crypto asset originally created for users of Huobi, the digital asset trading platform later rebranded as HTX. It is designed to give active traders a way to access platform benefits while also functioning as a tradable token within the broader crypto market.
HT was introduced in 2018, during a period when major exchanges were experimenting with native tokens to improve customer retention and deepen their ecosystems. Rather than being launched through a conventional initial coin offering, the token was distributed alongside prepaid service packages sold to Huobi Pro users. Its original supply model allocated a majority of tokens to users, with the remainder reserved for platform operations, user incentives, and team-related rewards.
The token’s core utility is tied to exchange participation. Holders have historically been able to use HT for trading fee discounts, VIP-status benefits, access to certain platform promotions, and other exchange services. Like other exchange tokens, its relevance depends heavily on the strength, liquidity, and user activity of the trading venue behind it.
HT belongs to the same broad category as Binance Coin, KuCoin Token, and other assets issued by centralized exchanges to support loyalty programmes and platform economies. Its value proposition is therefore distinct from that of a standalone blockchain token: it is closely linked to the commercial ecosystem, product roadmap, regulatory position, and market share of the Huobi/HTX exchange brand.
