Jito (JTO)
Jito is a Solana-focused protocol best known for combining liquid staking with infrastructure for maximum extractable value, or MEV. Its governance token, JTO, is used to participate in decisions affecting the Jito Network and related protocol parameters. The project is closely associated with JitoSOL, a liquid staking token that allows SOL holders to delegate into staking while retaining a token that can be used across decentralised finance applications.
The network’s main distinction is its approach to MEV on Solana. MEV refers to value that can be captured from the ordering, inclusion, or exclusion of transactions within a block. In practice, this often appears in arbitrage, liquidation, and other trading strategies that depend on execution sequence. Rather than leaving this activity opaque or concentrated among a small group of actors, Jito develops tools intended to make MEV markets more transparent and competitive.
Jito’s validator client and block engine infrastructure support auctions in which searchers can bid for transaction ordering opportunities. A portion of the value generated can be routed back through the ecosystem, including to JitoSOL holders, who may receive staking yield alongside MEV-linked rewards. This positions Jito as both a staking platform and a piece of market infrastructure for Solana.
For investors and users, JTO represents exposure to a protocol that sits at the intersection of Solana staking, validator economics, and DeFi trading activity. Its relevance depends on Solana network usage, demand for liquid staking, and the continuing importance of efficient MEV management.
