Re Protocol reUSD (REUSD)

reUSD is designed as the more conservative of the protocol’s two deposit tokens. According to the project’s model, it offers a principal-protected, fixed-yield profile tied to a benchmark rate plus an additional spread, while the companion token reUSDe carries more insurance risk in exchange for variable return potential. This structure gives users different ways to participate depending on their risk tolerance and desired yield characteristics.

The protocol operates across major smart contract ecosystems including Ethereum, Avalanche, Arbitrum, and Base. It uses decentralized underwriting pools to allocate capital to insurance-related opportunities and to create a more transparent mechanism for pricing and distributing reinsurance risk. Governance and treasury oversight are associated with the Re Foundation, which is based in the Cayman Islands and is intended to support compliance and capital management.

reUSD is notable because it links DeFi liquidity with real-world insurance markets rather than relying solely on crypto-native lending or trading activity. Integrations with platforms such as Curve, Pendle, and Ethena help place the token within broader DeFi liquidity and yield markets, while the underlying theme remains institutional-grade risk diversification through tokenized reinsurance exposure.
