Smooth Love Potion (SLP)

SLP’s main role is to act as a consumable resource for breeding Axies. When two eligible Axies are bred, SLP is spent, and the required amount rises as an Axie is bred more times. This escalating cost, alongside a cap on how often each Axie can breed, is designed to limit unlimited creation of new Axies and help manage supply within the game’s marketplace. Because SLP is burned when used for breeding, demand for the token is closely linked to player activity, new user growth, and the economics of Axie NFTs.

The token originated as Small Love Potion and later became Smooth Love Potion, with Axie Infinity also moving much of its activity to Ronin, a dedicated Ethereum sidechain built to reduce transaction costs and improve the game experience. SLP is therefore not a general-purpose smart contract platform token; its value proposition is mainly connected to the health of the Axie Infinity ecosystem.

SLP became one of the most visible examples of play-to-earn gaming, particularly in markets such as the Philippines, where Axie Infinity attracted large communities of players. Its market performance can be highly cyclical, reflecting changes in game design, reward emissions, breeding demand, and sentiment toward blockchain gaming.
