VeThor (VTHO)
VeThor (VTHO) is the gas token of the VeChainThor blockchain, the enterprise-focused network best known for supply-chain, product-tracking, and sustainability applications. VeChain uses a dual-token structure: VET represents the primary value and staking asset, while VTHO is consumed to pay for transactions and smart contract execution on the network.
This separation is intended to make blockchain costs more predictable for businesses. Holders of VET generate VTHO over time, and users spend VTHO when they transfer assets, interact with decentralised applications, or write data to the chain. By isolating transaction fees from the main asset, VeChain aims to reduce the direct impact that market speculation in VET can have on operating costs for companies building on the protocol.
VeChainThor is designed for real-world commercial use cases, including logistics, anti-counterfeiting, carbon data management, and digital product passports. The project has highlighted collaborations and integrations involving enterprises and service providers in areas such as certification, automotive, retail, and food traceability. Its model focuses less on consumer DeFi and more on business processes that require verifiable records across multiple parties.
VTHO is therefore central to the network’s day-to-day utility. It functions as the resource token that powers blockchain activity, similar in purpose to gas on other smart contract platforms, but with an issuance mechanism connected to VET ownership. For investors and users, VTHO reflects demand for computation and data transactions on VeChainThor, while VET remains the broader economic asset within the ecosystem.
