In Canada, Baytex produces a mix of heavy oil, light oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas from assets in regions such as Peace River, Lloydminster, the Viking, and other Western Canadian plays. These operations form the core of the business and historically account for the majority of its revenue. In the United States, Baytex has a significant position in the Eagle Ford shale in Texas, a well-established liquids-rich basin that provides exposure to higher-value light oil and condensate production.

Baytex’s financial performance is closely tied to benchmark oil and gas prices, production volumes, operating costs, transportation differentials, and capital allocation decisions. Like other upstream producers, it invests in drilling, completion, waterflood and recovery projects, and field infrastructure to maintain or grow output while managing decline rates.
