Non-Playable Coin (NPC)

The project’s main distinction is its hybrid token design. NPC exists as an ERC-20 token, making it tradable on decentralized exchanges such as Uniswap, but each unit can also be converted on a one-for-one basis into an ERC-1155 NFT. The project describes this format as a “meme fungible token,” or MFT, because it connects a fungible meme coin with NFT-style metadata and marketplace compatibility. Users can move between the two formats through the project’s dApp, effectively choosing whether to hold NPC as a liquid token or as a collectible NFT representation.

NPC’s supply is linked to the global human population recorded on July 26, 2023, reinforcing the project’s theme of creating a meme asset for “all humans.” This approach contrasts with traditional profile-picture NFT collections, which often rely on limited supply and exclusivity. NPC instead explores whether large-scale NFT communities can be supported through the ERC-1155 standard while using ERC-20 liquidity to make trading easier.

Planned features include customization tools that allow holders to accessorize their NPC NFTs and export them as profile images. Despite these creative elements, NPC is explicitly a meme coin with no promised utility, and its value is driven primarily by culture, speculation, and community engagement.
