GeoVax Labs (GOVX)

A central part of the company’s pipeline is GEO-MVA, a Modified Vaccinia Ankara-based vaccine candidate aimed at mpox, smallpox and other poxviruses. MVA vectors are widely studied because they can present antigens to the immune system while being replication-deficient in human cells, a feature that supports their use in vaccine development. GeoVax also advances GEO-CM04S1, a multi-antigen COVID-19 vaccine candidate intended to broaden immune targeting beyond the spike-only approach used by many first-generation vaccines. The programme is being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials, including settings where stronger or more durable protection may be important.

In oncology, GeoVax’s lead programme is Gedeptin, a gene-directed enzyme prodrug therapy being studied for solid tumours. The candidate recently completed a multicentre Phase 1/2 clinical trial in head and neck cancer, a disease area where patients with recurrent or advanced tumours often have limited treatment options.

As a development-stage biotech, GeoVax’s value is closely tied to clinical progress, regulatory outcomes, financing capacity and potential partnerships. The company does not operate like a commercial vaccine manufacturer with established product revenue; instead, it focuses on advancing differentiated candidates through trials that could support later-stage development or strategic collaboration.
