Halliburton (HAL)
NYSE Market Closed
Halliburton Company is one of the world’s largest providers of services and technology to the oil and gas industry, with a particularly strong franchise in North America. The company supports exploration and production customers across the life of a well, from drilling and formation evaluation through completions, production optimisation, and intervention. Its scale, engineering depth, and long operating history make it a central supplier to shale producers, international oil companies, and national oil companies.
Halliburton is especially prominent in hydraulic fracturing and well completions, areas that are critical to unconventional oil and gas development. Its pressure pumping fleets, completion tools, fluids, chemicals, and digital systems help producers improve recovery, reduce downtime, and lower the cost of bringing hydrocarbons to market. The company also has meaningful positions in directional drilling, drilling fluids, cementing, artificial lift, and well control services.
The business is organised around technologies that connect the reservoir to the wellbore and then to production. Halliburton’s expertise in materials science, downhole tools, subsurface data, and field execution allows it to tailor solutions for complex rock formations and high-intensity drilling programmes. Its customer base is cyclical because spending depends on commodity prices and producer capital budgets, but the company benefits when operators increase activity or seek efficiency gains. Halliburton’s distinctive role is that of a high-scale oilfield services partner focused on execution-heavy parts of the upstream value chain, particularly completions and production enhancement.
