Rocket Companies (RKT)
NYSE Market Closed
Rocket Companies, Inc. is a Detroit-based financial technology and consumer finance company best known for Rocket Mortgage, one of the most prominent mortgage lenders in the United States. The business traces its roots to Rock Financial, founded in 1985, and has built its brand around digital loan applications, data-driven underwriting, and direct relationships with homebuyers and homeowners.
Rocket’s mortgage platform serves customers through two main channels. In its direct-to-consumer business, borrowers apply through Rocket’s website, mobile app, or loan specialists, using the company’s technology to compare options, submit documents, and manage the process. Its partner channel gives mortgage brokers and other financial firms access to Rocket’s origination infrastructure, allowing third parties to offer loans while relying on Rocket’s systems, capital markets capabilities, and operational scale.
Although mortgage lending remains the core of the company, Rocket Companies also operates a broader housing and personal finance ecosystem. Its services are designed to support consumers across home search, financing, closing, servicing, and related financial decisions. The acquisition of Mr. Cooper Group significantly expands Rocket’s servicing footprint and positions the company as the largest mortgage servicer in the US, increasing the number of customer relationships it can retain beyond the initial loan origination.
RKT is closely tied to the health of the housing market, interest rate cycles, refinancing demand, and consumer credit conditions. Its competitive position rests on brand recognition, technology, marketing scale, and the ability to convert mortgage servicing relationships into future purchase, refinance, and financial services opportunities.
