Avalanche (AVAX)

Avalanche is best known for its consensus design and its multi-chain architecture. The primary network includes separate chains for different functions, including the C-Chain, which is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine and allows developers to deploy Solidity-based applications. This EVM compatibility has made it easier for Ethereum developers and users to move applications, assets, and liquidity into Avalanche while benefiting from faster confirmation times.

Another distinctive part of Avalanche is its support for custom blockchains, often referred to as subnets and, more recently, Avalanche L1s. These allow projects, institutions, and developers to launch application-specific networks with tailored rules, validator sets, fee structures, and compliance requirements. This design is intended to support use cases that may not fit neatly on a single shared public blockchain, including gaming networks, financial applications, and enterprise deployments.

AVAX plays an economic role across this system. Validators stake AVAX to participate in consensus, transaction fees are paid in AVAX on the primary network, and the asset is widely used in Avalanche-based DeFi markets. The project’s central value proposition is a combination of high-performance smart contracts and customizable blockchain infrastructure.
