Threshold Network (T)

The T token supports the Threshold ecosystem by aligning node operators, stakers, and governance participants. Node operators perform cryptographic services for applications, while token holders help secure the network and influence protocol decisions through decentralised governance. This design is intended to make critical functions such as key management, encryption, signing, and asset custody more resilient than systems controlled by one party.

Threshold inherits important ideas from both of its predecessor networks. NuCypher focused on decentralised encryption and access management, while Keep Network developed infrastructure for private data and trust-minimised custody. Together, these capabilities support products such as tBTC, a decentralised Bitcoin bridge that aims to bring Bitcoin liquidity into Ethereum-based DeFi without using a traditional wrapped-asset custodian. The network also supports cryptographic access-control services that can be used by applications handling private or permissioned data.

Threshold Network is distinctive because it treats cryptography as shared public infrastructure. Its long-term relevance depends on demand for decentralised custody, private computation, secure bridges, and Web3 applications that need stronger privacy and trust-minimised control over digital assets.
