Its core Dick’s Sporting Goods chain operates hundreds of large-format stores across the United States, supported by e-commerce, loyalty programs and in-store services. The company also runs Golf Galaxy, a specialty golf retailer, along with outlet formats that help manage inventory and reach value-oriented shoppers.

Dick’s has expanded beyond traditional sporting goods retail by investing in experiential concepts such as House of Sport, which uses features like climbing walls, batting cages, putting areas and community event spaces to make stores more engaging. Its merchandise strategy includes categories tied to youth sports, running, training, lifestyle sneakers and outdoor recreation, reflecting the overlap between athletic performance and casual wear.

In September 2025, Dick’s acquired Foot Locker, adding a large global footwear platform that includes Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, Champs Sports, atmos and WSS. The deal substantially broadened its store base across North America, Asia-Pacific and EMEA, and created a combined company with an annual sales base of more than $22 billion. As a result, Dick’s is positioned as a broader sports, lifestyle and athletic footwear retailer with meaningful scale across both physical retail and online commerce.
