PBF Energy Inc. is an independent US petroleum refining company that produces transportation fuels, heating oil, petrochemical feedstocks, lubricants, and other refined petroleum products. The company does not operate as an integrated oil producer; instead, its core business is buying crude oil and other feedstocks, processing them through its refinery system, and selling finished products into wholesale and commercial markets.
PBF owns refineries in several important US refining regions, including facilities in Delaware, New Jersey, Ohio, Louisiana, and California. This geographic spread gives the company access to different crude supply sources, product markets, and logistics networks. Its refineries produce gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, asphalt, fuel oil, and feedstocks used by petrochemical manufacturers, making the company part of the supply chain that supports transportation, industrial activity, and consumer energy demand.
The company reports its operations through refining and logistics activities. The refining business covers the conversion of crude oil and intermediate feedstocks into marketable petroleum products. Its logistics operations include assets such as terminals, storage facilities, pipelines, and related infrastructure that support the movement of crude and refined products into and out of the refining system.
PBF Energy’s financial performance is closely tied to refining margins, crude oil differentials, product demand, operating reliability, environmental regulation, and regional fuel market conditions. Because refiners earn money from the spread between feedstock costs and refined product prices, the company can benefit from favorable crack spreads but remains exposed to commodity price volatility, maintenance downtime, and changes in fuel consumption patterns.
