OpenAI is in focus at writing after Cathie Wood announced to have taken a stake in the artificial intelligence company behind ChatGPT.

How much did Cathie Wood invest in OpenAI?

She made the investment via her Ark Venture Fund – but exactly how much has she invested in OpenAI remains unknown.

Wood launched that fund more than a year ago to enable investors to participate in the venture capital market with just $500. Ark said in an email on Friday:

Cathie Wood is a notable AI bull

Cathie Wood secured a position in OpenAI because of the data advantage that she says is the “secret sauce”. Other notable names that Ark Venture Fund has invested in include Epic Games, Discord, and SpaceX.

The influential investor is a prominent AI bull. Artificial intelligence, she’s convinced, is a catalyst for “disruptive innovation” at large. That’s what she primarily invests in.

Last year, Wood called Tesla Inc “the biggest AI opportunity in the world” considering it’s committed to putting robotaxis on the roads in the United States.

Elon Musk recently said that his half-a-trillion-dollar company will reveal its first robotaxi on August 8th (read more). $TSLA is still down over 30% versus the start of 2024.
