Chromia (CHR)

Chromia’s main distinction is its “relational blockchain” architecture. Instead of treating blockchain data only as a simple ledger, Chromia combines blockchain security with database-style organisation, allowing developers to query and manage information in ways that resemble relational databases. Its programming language, Rell, is designed to feel familiar to developers who understand SQL-like logic, while still supporting decentralised application requirements.

The network is positioned both as a standalone Layer 1 blockchain and as an enhancement layer for applications connected to ecosystems such as Ethereum and BNB Chain. Applications on Chromia can operate on their own chains that are anchored to the wider network, giving developers more control over performance and fee models. This design can support conventional transaction fees, subsidised user activity, or other structures where developers reserve network resources for their applications.

Chromia targets use cases where data handling is central, including games, decentralised finance, NFTs, identity systems, and public-sector or enterprise records. Projects associated with the ecosystem have included blockchain gaming, DeFi platforms, and land registry experiments.
